privacy policy.

the short version

what you add to dearly belongs to you. it's private unless you choose to share it. we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and you can take everything with you or delete it whenever you like.

who we are

dearly is run by ember labs limited, 1 watermill lawn, raheny, dublin 5, D05 K738, ireland. we're responsible for the information described here. you can reach us any time at hello@yoursdearly.app.

what we collect

on this website: if you join the waitlist, your email address, plus any answers you choose to give to the short questions after (who you're missing, how long it's been, what would help, and which phone you use). our host also keeps basic server logs (like ip address and browser type) for security.

in the app: your account details (name, email), what you choose to add — memories, letters, photos, voice notes, posts — and basic technical information needed to keep the app working, such as device type and crash reports.

how we use it

only to run dearly for you: to store what you add, show it to the people you've chosen to share it with, keep your account secure, and write to you about the service. we'll only send the waitlist email you signed up for — nothing else unless you ask.

what we never do

we never sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it to target you. we don't read your letters or memories, except where you've asked us to help or the law requires it.

who else can see it

the people you choose to share something with can see it. posts in the community are visible to other members under the name you choose. we use a small number of trusted providers to host and run dearly (netlify, which hosts this website and stores waitlist sign-ups, and cloudflare, which manages our domain); they can only use your information to provide that service to us.

keeping it safe

your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access inside our team is limited to the few people who need it. no system is perfect, but we treat what you keep here as the most private thing you own.

keeping and deleting

we keep your information while your account is open. you can export everything or delete it from settings at any time; deleted content is removed from our systems within 30 days. to leave the waitlist, reply to any email or write to us.

your rights

depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your information, or object to how we use it. write to hello@yoursdearly.app and we'll answer within 30 days. you can also complain to the irish data protection commission or your local data protection authority.

children

dearly is for people aged 16 and over. if you think a younger person has signed up, let us know and we'll remove their information.

changes

if we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
